Hadis Ke-34: Menyingkirkan Kemungkaran

Medina Azahara

Medina Azahara is an archaeological site located on the outskirts of Cordoba, Andalusia, Spain. It was built during the 10th century as a palace-city by the Umayyad Caliphate of Cordoba. The construction of the city was ordered by Caliph Abd al-Rahman III , who wanted to create a new capital that would rival the splendor of Baghdad and Constantinople. The city was built on a plateau overlooking the Guadalquivir River and was designed to be an impressive display of Islamic art and architecture. It featured magnificent palaces, courtyards, gardens, mosques, and administrative buildings. The city was also home to tens of thousands of inhabitants, including officials, artisans, and servants. Despite its grandeur, the city's life was relatively short-lived. It was sacked and destroyed in 1010 by Berber troops who had been hired by a rival caliph. Over time, the site was abandoned and fell into ruin. It was rediscovered in the early 20th century and has since been excavated and partia...

The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise: Muslims, Christians, and Jews under Islamic Rule in Medieval Spain by Dario Fernandez-Morera

"The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise" by Dario Fernandez-Morera is a thought-provoking and controversial book that challenges the commonly held notion that medieval Spain under Islamic rule was a model of multicultural harmony and tolerance. Fernandez-Morera argues that the reality was far more complex, and that the Muslim rulers of al-Andalus were often oppressive and intolerant towards their Christian and Jewish subjects. He contends that the idea of a "golden age" of Muslim Spain is a myth perpetuated by modern-day apologists for Islam, and that the reality was much darker. The book is meticulously researched, with extensive footnotes and references to primary sources. Fernandez-Morera draws on a range of historical and literary sources to make his case, including chronicles, poetry, and legal texts. One of the strengths of the book is its clear and concise writing style. Fernandez-Morera is able to distill complex historical arguments into accessible language...

Tales of the Alhambra by Washington Irving

"Tales of the Alhambra" is a collection of stories and essays written by Washington Irving, an American writer, in the early 19th century. The book revolves around the author's experiences during his stay at the Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain, and offers a unique insight into the history, culture, and legends of the Moorish rulers who once inhabited the palace. Irving's prose is descriptive and evocative, transporting the reader to the Alhambra and the surrounding Andalusian landscape. He weaves together historical accounts and mythological tales to create a vivid and immersive portrait of the palace and its inhabitants. One of the highlights of the book is Irving's retelling of the story of Boabdil, the last Moorish king of Granada, who surrendered the city to the Christian forces of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in 1492. Irving's version of the story is full of pathos and tragedy, painting a poignant picture of a once-great ruler brought low by the...
